Connection & Relationship

By being baptised you plunge yourself (literally) into the church community. You graft yourself into God's people as an outwardly claimed follower of Christ. Aligning yourself with the truth of Jesus' life, death, resurrection and ascension, as an inheritor of the future promise of salvation by His grace. Doing this alongside fellow believers.

Obedience to Scripture

As a part of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus instructs His disciples to make fellow disciples, baptising them the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Expanding the network of disciples who proclaim Jesus as Lord, Saviour and Authority of all. This command is still relevant today as we adhere to Jesus' teachings.

Hope

Baptism serves as a magnificent and mighty symbol of the power of Christ's resurrection from death. A hopeful reminder and promise of our own resurrected physical bodies to come, and the peace that comes from knowing that simply, "it is finished." (John 19:30)

Intimacy with Christ

Baptism represents the washing away of sins, from death to life in Christ. By being plunged we die to ourselves, and rise from the water rested and assured in the life giving power of Christ. This symbolism reminds us of the forgiveness, mercy and redemptive restoration of us by our Creator God through Jesus Christ. Signifying the individual's decision to die to their old ways and live transformed anew in Christ.
