Our Mission

To live by Faith.

To be known by Love.

To be a voice of Hope.

By the power, will and grace of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

To see our community come to praise Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. From one generation to the next. Standing firm in the Gospel.

Our Values

1

Christ Centred

To teach Christ Centred, sound doctrine. By this we can ensure that the passing on of God's Word can be fulfilled and undiluted. Community clearly the gospel of Jesus Christ as intended.

2

Evangelism

To preach the Gospel and encourage the worship of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. To teach others the ways of Christ, what it means to live for Him and the importance to live founded in Christ.

3

Discipleship

To live as examples of Jesus Christ by Faith, Love and Hope. In word and in deed. To be imitators of Christ in the way He conducted Himself based on Scripture. To serve our community in similar ways. Confidently raising the next generation in the ways of Christ.

History

Since 1972 the Ōmokoroa Community Church has played a central part in the community of Omokoroa. As a cooperating Parish the OCC has worked hard to encompass the theologies of the Anglican, Methodist and Presbyterian churches drawing on the similarities and celebrating the differences. Our mission statement “To live by faith, be known by love, and be a voice of hope” underlines the heart of being located in a small community, the need to minister and care for one another and to be a place of refuge and hope.

The Ōmokoroa Community Church is situated midway along the peninsula across the road from the harbour and down the hill from the school. Opened in 2002, the church is reasonably modern and can comfortably accommodate 200 people in the auditorium. The auditorium boasts a full sound system including audio loop. The church also has a fully equipped commercial kitchen which is often used for catering purposes. There is also a large hall and a well-equipped office which is open five mornings a week. Most parish fellowship activities occur in the hall which also has a data projector and small sound system. The hall is used extensively by both parish and community groups.
